Just for fun

Too cute to pass up. My two kids "helping daddy" in the shop.
They love to sit on my table while I am working. I love it too.

Ivy Leaf custom buckle

This is the Ivy Leaf buckle.
I was asked to make this as part of a trade for a belt.
Before I started I honestly can say I wasn't sure what an ivy leaf looked like.
After I get my belt in trade I will update this post with a picture.

I thought about this for a while. I almost bought a stamped leaf and attached it. I am glad I didn't. This is weld build-up. Then ground flat. After the leaf was the correct shape, I added the leaf veins with hammer and chisel. The buckle was then cleaned up and left natural steel color.
finished with two layers of clear laquer.

Tree branch window guards

Posting some of my favorite work.
These are window guards. The design was largely up to me. The customer loved them.

Each branch was unique. Seven different windows, seven different branches.

Some branches were close to others, some were all alone.
The customer even told me that sometimes he comes home and birds are perched on them.

These are all steel, welded and clear powdercoated to maintain the shiny appearance as much as possible. Over time they will slowly patina a nice rust brown.

Custom twin buckles

Original design sent to customer. SMCM is "St. Mary's College of Maryland".
Purchased for friends.

Finished product. I really liked the color.

Pit Bull custom buckle.

Yet another Pit Bull buckle.
This one for a friend of a friend. Simple yet bold. No frills, but makes a statement.
All steel construction, ball peened silhouette. Stamped to customers specifications.

One just for fun. It was made for a friend. His design. We left the steel raw, no finish. He wanted it to patina naturally. Cool idea.

Harris Dental Buckle

My dentist office logo.

Although the above picture is not in color, the bright orange is used with the logo.
Simple. I really like the way it turned out.

Custom "Om" buckle

This is the "Om" symbol....I was gonna explain what it is and where it came from, but after a few minutes on Wikipedia, I changed my mind. So if your curious, ...Wikipedia "Om".

Finished product, built up weld, sanded flat. Finished nicely with rust-patina and hand rubbed wax topped with clear coat.
I really love this color.

Six buckles, stamped.

Nothing fancy, but one customer ordered six buckles, all stamped. I thought this picture would give a look at different phrase ideas and color options.

custom buckle for Drake costume

My computer was having problems and Google wasn't working so I couldn't blog, but all is well thanks to an amazing friend who helped us.

More custom buckles. Here is the photo sent to me of "Drake" from the PS3 Uncharted title.
some what small here but was easily seen in email.

Here is the finished product. I used two layers and just used "artist license" to fill in the design that was not seen well in the photo. Then used 14k gold color paint, sanded some off to give it a well worn look, and voila. This buckle was quite heafty.

The customer sent a picture after they received it (they loved it). Sorry its kinda blurry.
